2011 was the year that extended, in a whirlwind of lots of unexpected things.
January was a month of bitter cold, family dramas, winter blues, starting my job at the shop and frozen pipes in the flat. February was a busy month of Valentine's picnic and a visit to Birmingham for my lovely niece's Christening with CC. March saw the birth of Molly (who we were yet to meet) and April was my 24th birthday which involved a rather lovely house gathering and a trip to St Andrews. We collected Molly at the start of May and I went on the mixed blessing of the 'father-daughter bonding trip' to London. June visited London and Vienna, saw Julian Barratt on stage, said goodbye to the Austrian chapter of my life in style. July was Padua, an immense trip and highlight of a lot of aspects of my life, friendships I treasure (LE, LH, GS) and passions we share and a cheeky wee grant from the Reid Trust. August was a mental month at work and the struggle to get a writing-up period secured for my masters. A £2000 reward from the SIET in September cheered me somewhat as did my ever-growing friendship with KM. October was Harry Potter Halloween closely followed by Peter's whisky birthday in November, preceding my month of writing which went even smoother thanks to the introduction of my new MacBook Idris.
In between all this, there were black periods where I really doubted a lot of things, financial shit piled upon financial shit. But the people made it better and I'm looking forward to 2012...
Handing in my MPhil, watching Molly grow even more, London with CC for a ladies' weekend (Matilda!), the promise of new beginnings in September.
Happy new year all, and thanks for being you x
